Wild Girl Waltz – Simpler There is an alarming trend in films recently; the lack of comedies with characters hanging out and getting into trouble. From “Smokey and the Bandit” to “Road Trip” the concept of driving around and getting into mischief has been an American film motif for decades and has always been one of my favorite comedy sub-genres.

The choice to use country music throughout Wild Girl Waltz was a brilliant idea and very fitting to the feel of the film. It works perfectly to capture the essence of the storyline and as most of the film is shot as the group are riding through the countryside, there are many picturesque moments that coincide with the style of music and carefree attitude of the afternoon.
Finally, a low-budget independent film which recognises its financial limitations and works around them brilliantly. Mark Lewis’ Wild Girl Waltz is original and honest, a real comedy, carried out by real comedians. Nothing feels fake, nothing is pushed, nothing has been seen before and absolutely nothing should have been done differently.

But when "Wild Girl Waltz" arrived and I saw the cover, I was pretty sure I was in for a crappy independent bore. No disrespecting the filmmakers, I just doubt a lot of time was spent on the cover. When it came to the movie itself, I was in for quite a treat - to my great surprise.
